Operations Director

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a world leading manufacturer in their search for an Operations Director to be responsible for the overall production operation & strategy for their Herefordshire based plant.

The operation is a major UK production facility for the Group and the Operations Director will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the plant to meet safety, quality, delivery performance, inventory, productivity, production, shipment and cost budget targets.
  • Implementing a continuous improvement process that drives improvement in safety, product yield, cost of non-conformance, labour productivity, cycle time reduction and cost reduction.
  • Assessing the overall needs for engineering maintenance in agreement with the Engineering Director. Action to be taken to maintain a safe, and continued operation of the plant.
  • Planning and evaluating future capital needs and requisitions through market and technical analysis for justification.
  • Ensuring that the employees are well motivated and rewarded through effective training, competitive evaluation of wages/salaries and incentives.
  • Ensuring proper financial management is adhered to via robust quality accounting controls and procedures for measurement of attainment of committed financial targets.
  • Making sure that the manufacturing capability is cost effective and able to support the needs of customers
  • Identifying from the production plans developed by the Planning Director, the resources needed to meet present and foreseeable production demands. Takes steps to ensure that the departments are appropriately staffed and that capacity is available.
  • Driving a quality-first, zero-defects mentality and culture within Operations to ensure the company meets and exceeds customers' quality expectations. Identifies and implements areas for improving the overall quality performance.
  • Establishes all requirements and implements necessary changes to constantly improve the On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) performance to 95% plus levels.

Experience & Education required:

  • BSc (Hons) or higher within a relevant subject (e.g. Engineering, Material Science, etc.)
  • Proven experience leading a large, complex manufacturing environment
  • Experience within a Unionised environment
  • Able to operate within a strategic leadership function
  • Financial commercial acumen
