The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Year 5 class teacher to support the delivery of the curriculum, provide individual and small group assistance, and help create an inclusive and positive learning environment. This would be a full-time role, starting September 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support students in their learning, helping to reinforce concepts and provide additional guidance as needed.
  • Work with small groups or individual students to provide targeted support in literacy, numeracy, and other subject areas.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and a respectful learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
  • Support the teacher with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and assessing student progress.
  • Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall development and well-being of students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting, either secondary, primary or SEN.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of the school and students.
