Reporting Manager - Forensic Science - Gunshot residue

  • Salary: £25,000 - £45,0000 (depending on experience – 10+ years' experience for the top level salary)

Reed Scientific are recruiting a Reporting Manager for our client based in the Norwich area. The successful candidate will be responsible for converting customer requirements into forensic strategies and managing personal caseloads. This role is ideal for someone with a strong science background and a keen eye for detail, who is ready to take on a high level of responsibility and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Clarify customers' requirements and develop forensic strategies; coordinate the search, recovery, and testing of material from case exhibits in the laboratory; interpret findings in a concise manner to present evidence to the court
  • Manage personal caseload and resources.
  • Conduct forensic strategies in line with a CAI approach.
  • Undertake or supervise the technical analysis of forensic samples.
  • Assign meaningful interpretation and conclusions to forensic evidence.
  • Prepare written reports suitable for court/CPS purposes.
  • Provide expert evidence to courts.
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet customer requirements.
  • Drive departmental excellence and efficiency with a focus on continuous process improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a Science discipline.
  • Gunshot residue competency.
  • Experience in reporting Forensic Biology and DNA casework or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with Homicide/Suspicious Death scenes is advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing work of the highest standard.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a high workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills with an ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate others and resolve conflict.
