Head of Accounts - Part Time, Home Based, Flexible Hours

We are looking for a part time Head of Accounts & Finance for our client in the financial services sector. The post is 3 days per week with a high degree of flexibility to choose working hours. It is a home based role, with in-person meetings every 2 weeks at a location close to Liverpool Street in London. They are open to candidates based anywhere across the country.

Purpose of the Role: Responsible for the Accounting & Finance functions of the company

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement & maintain financial policies to guarantee operational efficiency.
  • Preparation and planning of financial forecasting, budgets, and all financial reporting
  • Ensure financial records are kept up to date with the latest transactions and changes.
  • Liaise with external accountants/auditors.
  • Monitor all bank deposits and payments.
  • Perform periodic financial analysis to detect and resolve problems.
  • Client fee invoicing.
  • Manage partial exemption VAT process.
  • Manage and monitor metrics, KPI tracking and reports.
  • Ensure required statutory financial reports are submitted to the FCA on time and compliance with all relevant financial legislation, regulations and guidelines, etc.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are correctly recorded in accounting software
  • Prepare reports to the Board and shareholders
  • Prepare periodical FCA reporting
  • Prepare and monitor budgets through the management accounts and support budget holders on understanding variances against budget
  • Participate in internal meetings to share information and insights on historic and future financial results
  • The operation of the sales ledger ensuring that invoices are raised promptly and accurately and that appropriate credit control procedures are in place to ensure prompt payment of debts.
  • The operation of the purchase ledger ensuring that invoices are accurately recorded in the accounting system and that suppliers are paid within agreed credit terms.
  • Monitor and review financial systems and procedures and recommend, devise and implement more effective and efficient procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Relevant qualification desirable but not essential
  • Experience using financial software.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations.
