Supply Chain Manager

My client is looking to recruit a Supply Chain Manager to join their growing team.

Role Focus

Supply Chain Team Management - Lead the Supply Chain team in all aspects of day to day supply chain activities.

Digitisation - The retail and consumer landscape in which the company operates is changing quickly and if they are to continue to grow and be successful it is essential that they adapt to these changes. The role will be heavily involved in the transition from a traditional B2B business model to an omnichannel hybrid model that can serve B2B and D2C equally well which requires increasing levels of digitisation and systems implementation.

Stock Management / Working Capital Optimisation - Another key part of the role is ensuring that the working capital applied to stock procurement is optimised. You should have experience in stock control, accurate reporting, and process development.

Role Requirements

Supply Chain Experience - Essential

Successful candidates will typically have more than 10 years' experience in the following aspects of supply chain management.

  • Stock Management - ensure working capital is utilised as efficiently as possible and overall spend is kept within financial guidelines.
  • Demand Planning - experience of driving change is this area of supply chain.
  • Merchandising - guide & support the merchandising team to ensure inventory levels are optimised whilst maintaining the highest possible customer service levels.
  • Supplier Management - liaising with factories to ensure orders are produced to schedule.
  • Shipping & Freight Forwarding - understand the challenges of importing goods from the Far East
  • Warehousing - understand the demands of a modern D2C warehouse environment.
  • Project Management / Critical Path Management - must have strong experience in this.
  • Sales Order Processing - experience of best-in-class ways of optimising SOP in a digital business
  • Amazon - experience of the ways of working required to be a successful Amazon supplier.
  • DD / Dropship (D2C) - knowledge and experience of this type of environment
  • ERP Systems - must appreciate the importance of ERP systems in supply chain.
  • Customer Service - should have extensive experience in this area.
  • Global Awareness - a good understanding of current global issues that impact supply chains.

Supply Chain Experience - Preferred but not essential.

  • Duty Deferment - Knowledge of how duty deferment schemes work.
  • Bonded Warehousing - knowledge of working in a bonded environment would be advantageous.
  • Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) - experience of setting up and renewing this accreditation.
  • General Fiscal Representation - experience of setting up and renewing this accreditation.
  • Quality Assurance and Control - understand the difference between the two how this can effectively be applied in an importing business that uses external factories.
  • Environmental & Social Governance (ESG) - understand the ESG compliance requirements for companies who operate in the licensing sector.

Other Skills

  • Contract Negotiation - experience of negotiating and renewing contracts as they fall due.
  • Commerciality - ability to make commercial decisions, compromise if required & minimise spend.
  • Budget Setting & Cost Control - supporting the budget setting process & controlling costs.
  • Communication Skills - ability to communicate effectively both internally & externally.
  • People Skills - excellent leadership skills combined with an ability to listen and be empathetic.
  • Analytical / Excel Skills - should be comfortable with pivot tables, formulae and other similar techniques that facilitate high quality data manipulation and analysis.
  • Microsoft Knowledge - in addition to Excel this should include all the usual MS Office applications.
  • Private Equity - experience of working in this type of environment.
  • Problem Solving - should be innovative and able to think on your feet.
  • Attention to Detail - must have rigorous attention to detail.

Academic Qualifications Degree - Successful candidates will typically hold a Bachelor's Degree (2:1 or above) in a related discipline such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Engineering.

Other - qualifications in areas such as procurement, systems integration, project management would be beneficial but are not essential.
