Literacy Subject Lead

Are you an experienced special education teacher or leader ready to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the dedicated team as a Literacy Subject Lead.

About Us: They are committed to providing positive and stimulating learning experiences for our students. The school delivers a person-centred curriculum tailored to the developmental and learning needs of each child. They offer a variety of educational programs designed to meet the needs of students with severe to complex learning needs, Autism, communication and sensory processing difficulties, and associated behaviours.

Role Overview: They are seeking a passionate and organised Literacy Subject Lead to join our Middle Leadership Team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and quality-assuring the English/Literacy curriculum across the school. You will ensure that our subject is consistently well-planned, with a strong focus on structure, methodology, and delivery of the learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the English/Literacy subject area, ensuring high-quality planning and delivery across the school.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of students with severe to complex learning needs, Autism, and related difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community to support student learning and development.
  • Utilise practical, experiential, and therapeutic education strategies to engage students and facilitate their progress.
  • Be an effective team player with strong organisational skills and a highly structured approach to teaching.
  • Contribute to the school's Middle Leadership Team, sharing best practices and supporting overall school improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified teacher status with experience in special education.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in curriculum planning and coordination.
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support students with severe to complex learning needs, Autism, and sensory processing difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families and colleagues.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive education for all students.
