Collections Documentation Manager

St Paul's Cathedral have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Collections Documentation Manager to join their Collections Department in one of the most iconic buildings in the world.

Role:-

People; ideas; oratory; music and faith have made St Paul's an extraordinary place for over one thousand four hundred years. The richness of the past and present life of the cathedral is recorded, and can be interpreted, through The Collections. This remarkable group of objects, archive material, books and manuscripts can provide multiple ways in to understanding the life and work of the cathedral.

In order for the potential of The Collections to be realised, the department puts excellence in documentation and conservation at the heart of its activities. This ensures that essential Collections Management activities underpin the use and long-term preservation of The Collections.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for duties including day to day maintenance and development of the Collections Management System (Axiell Collections), accountability activity related to auditing, spot checking and inventory gaps across collections, maintaining documentation for the object collection to meet the requirements of the Care of Cathedral's Measure and Spectrum, and contributing to disaster recovery planning.

The successful applicant will have:-

  • demonstrable knowledge of documentation theory and practice, and how documentation supports historic collections;
  • operational management experience of a Collections Management System;
  • experience of planning and managing research and documentation projects;
  • an ability to prioritise and good attention to detail.

The successful applicant will also be expected to share in St Paul's Cathedral's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
