Job Summary: The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and managing biomass boilers and related equipment to ensure efficient and safe production of energy. This role involves monitoring system performance, conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities: -

  • Operate Biomass Boilers
  • Start, stop, and monitor biomass boilers and associated equipment

  • Adjust controls to regulate fuel, air, and water supply to maintain desired levels of steam or hot water

Routine Maintenance:

  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on boilers, feed systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate boiler parts as needed to maintain optimal performance.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system malfunctions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs and adjustments.

System Monitoring:

  • Monitor gauges, meters, and computerized controls to track system performance.
  • Record operational data, such as temperatures, pressures, and fuel consumption.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety checks and emergency drills as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with environmental regulations related to emissions and waste management.

Fuel Management:

  • Manage biomass fuel supplies, including handling, storage, and feeding of biomass materials.
  • Ensure efficient use of fuel and optimize combustion processes.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate logs and records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and incidents.
  • Prepare reports on boiler performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other operators, maintenance personnel, and management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide training and support to junior staff or new hires.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating industrial boilers, preferably biomass or solid fuel boilers.
  • Experience with computerized control systems and mechanical maintenance.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of boiler operation principles and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods, climbing, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Willingness to work in varying conditions, including high heat and noise levels.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position; may require shift work, weekends, and holidays depending on operational needs.

Environment:

  • Industrial plant setting with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
