SALARY: £25,148 - £30,443 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Covering Oxfordshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (on-call, out of hours working will be one week out of every four)

PLEASE NOTE: You must have a Full Driving Licence and your own vehicle (when using for business travel, mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant who has experience working in a customer facing role, preferably supporting vulnerable people with excellent communication and administrative skills.

Working as the Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant you will be dedicated to creating a positive living experience for individuals in supported housing.

As a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant you will join a supported housing scheme for unaccompanied asylum seekers 18 plus with no recourse to public funds. There are support staff available Monday to Friday. In this role, you will identify and deliver flexible housing related support to service users to enable them to develop independent skills in order to move on to their own accommodation.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant will include:

  • Assess all new tenants and allocate beds according to procedures
  • Provide information and advice to service users in order to assist them in establishing and maintaining their tenancy
  • Ensure room checks and housekeeping void procedures are followed and that voids are kept to a minimum
  • Ensure that tenancy / license is upheld
  • Carry out risk assessments as necessary, liaising with other agencies where appropriate
  • Promote user participation by providing information and advice choices to enable residents to participate more fully in decisions relating to them
  • Carry out designated H&S checks and facilities management of the building and liaise with internal departments
  • This role will require working alone more often than not so discipline and self-motivation is key

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • You won't necessarily have experience in this sector, as the company recognise that transferrable skills and experience are just as valuable
  • The company is specifically looking for candidates with the right skills and attitudes, who will demonstrate and promote their values of caring by nature, working better together and thinking for tomorrow
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing role
  • A passion for customer service
  • The understanding to motivate people who have complex and diverse issues, including alcohol or substance misuse, mental health trauma and behavioural challenges
  • An awareness of Universal Credit, Housing Benefits and voluntary and statutory support agencies would be useful
  • The skills to identify and manage risk
  • An awareness of safeguarding measures and processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English
  • You must have a full driving licence, together with a car available and insured for business purposes. Where you need to use this for business travel, mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile
  • You'll need a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) at the Enhanced level - don't worry, the company will pay for this and any subsequent renewals
