Legal Associate

Responsiblities:

  • Support on legal matters assigned by the CRO and VPs, including:
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating market-standard repurchase and stock lending documentation, such as the 1995, 2000, and 2011 GMRA, 2000 and 2010 GMSLA, related tri-party documents, and bespoke confirmations.
  • Liaising with the Credit, Treasury, Operations, and Tax departments, as well as sales and trading personnel in various regional offices.
  • Reviewing legal opinions on the netting and collateral enforceability of repo and stock lending master documentation, and liaising with external counsel.
  • Managing amendments, novations, and terminations of master documentation.
  • Responding to queries on the master documentation from various departments, including the front office.
  • Following up both internally and with counterparts to gather comments and information, review agreements, and prepare them for execution.
  • Coordinating the progress of document negotiations as part of a team effort.

Skills:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate market-standard repurchase and stock lending documentation, including the 1995, 2000, and 2011 GMRA, the 2000 and 2010 GMSLA, related tri-party documents, and bespoke confirmations.
  • At least 3 years of financial and commercial experience within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to meticulously review detailed legal documents.
  • Ensure consistency across documentation and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Understand legal agreements in repo and funding, comprehend complex financial documentation, and possess a broad knowledge of financial markets.
  • Familiarity with GMRA, GMSLA, and ISDA's suite of documentation.
