We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage the accounting department and supervise financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Description

  • Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Participate in regular tax audits and payroll
  • Prepare budgeting reports and forecast revenues
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department
  • Organise financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives
  • Ensure compliance with the law

Profile

The successful Accountant should have:

  • Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven work experience in Local Government
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
