We are seeking a part-qualified Assistant Accountant to join our team at a thriving SME in Guildford. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a dynamic business environment. The ideal candidate will be actively pursuing an accounting qualification and will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles to support our financial operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial documents, as well as their compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain important financial reports.
- Prepare tax documents and perform audits.
- Help oversee and manage individual accounts.
- Create, send, and follow up on invoices.
- Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets.
- Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct.
- Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients.
- Report any troubling discoveries or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities.
- Assist the accounting department in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, developing budgets, tax preparation, and performing reconciliations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Proven experience as an assistant accountant or relevant accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and IT skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant accounting software.
