Finance Business Partner

Our client a leading transport operator, are seeking a Finance Business Partner to provide high-quality forecasting, period-end reporting, and analysis within a defined area of our business.
This role is crucial in ensuring that directors and managers have the financial information they need to meet objectives and support business decision-making. As a Finance Business Partner, you will be a key player in driving financial accountability and supporting business leaders.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Produce periodic analytical reporting to meet business area requirements within deadlines, using technology to automate and drive standards and efficiency.
- Complete high-quality forecasts, budgets, and corporate plans within required deadlines.
- Provide insight-driven analysis of business activities to improve performance and build budgets and forecasts that consider business performance and strategy.
- Implement and maintain a continuous improvement strategy and culture.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve profitability through a sound understanding of revenue and cost base.
- Act as an internal advisor/consultant, sought out by the business for financial guidance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of financial systems/data warehouses (Oracle/TM1).
- Ability to influence at all levels of the business.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to forge successful and challenging relationships across the business.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial issues to a non-financial audience.
- Collaborative team-working skills.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and financial modelling skills.
Experience:
- Significant experience in a commercial financial and planning environment, including time spent in an analytical role in a similar size business.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen with a broad-based view of issues, events, and activities, and an understanding of their longer-term impact or wider implications.
- Demonstrable ability to assess situations and appropriately prioritise key information and issues.
- Experience in the rail or similar transport industry is advantageous.
