**Position:**Mechanical Technician

The role
- Ensure that all planned maintenance is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures that are in place.
- Keep and maintain all maintenance records for the site ensuring that all relevant documentation is filled in and filed in the appropriate manner.
- Have a proactive approach and propose solutions on potential issues around the site and work with other personnel to find solutions.
- Detailing all problems and relaying information on all aspects of the plant, daily to the Maintenance Manager.
- Inform the Maintenance Manager of any breach of health and safety around the plant and make safe again if possible.
- Assist with the training of personnel on the plant when required, ensuring that all operators are trained in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensure that all maintenance spares are replenished before stock runs out; this can be done by informing the Maintenance Manager that these items need re-ordering.
- Ensure that all areas of the plant are kept in a safe manner whilst working and that the area is left in a safe state and tidy afterwards.
- Work on the plant during weekly shutdown periods and work with the Maintenance Manager to organise the appropriate resources needed.
- Guide/train plant operators when needed in their routine maintenance duties.
- Ability to work unsupervised and function as part of a team.
The person
Essential skills
- Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship or similar.
- Experience of working in a process industry/with process equipment
- Maintenance experience in a heavy engineering environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Computer Literate
- Good communication skills
Desirable skills
- Welding skills would be advantageous
- Electrical skills would be advantageous
- Experience of continuous processing equipment
- A good understanding of operations and maintenance, steam and hydraulic systems
