Chief Risk Officer - South West - Insurance
My client is seeking an experienced Chief Risk Officer, who will have the responsibility for providing second line of defence assurance to the group for all risk management related topics.
This role is instrumental in ensuring a risk management system, as well as a governance and control culture are adhered to in the group in order to manage all risks within the framework of the risk appetite defined by the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will hold responsibility for the Internal Control System, including risk and control assessment and reporting across all in-scope processes, carried out primarily in accordance with the UK regulators as well as the requirements of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directly Reporting to the CFO and to the firm's Board of Director on the firm's risk exposures relative to its risk appetite and tolerance
- Assessing the extent to which the risks of the business strategy and plans are consistent with therisk appetite of the management body
- Informing the Board of Directors of the company if the business strategies or plans exceed the company'srisk appetite and tolerance
- Ensuring that the data used by the firm to assess its risks are fit for purpose in terms of quality, quantity and breadth
- Providing oversight and challenge of the firm's systems and controls in respect of risk management
- Providing oversight and validation of the firm'sinternal and external reporting of risk and controls
- Ensuring the adequacy of risk information, risk analysis and risk training provided to members of the firm's governing body
The role holder will need to satisfy UK SMF regulatory requirements.
