Business Development Manager

Location: Waltham Cross, Herts
Salary: Competitive Basic Salary, plus Car Allowance & Bonus Scheme
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Hybrid Working: Office based at least 2 days per week).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join our sales team in Waltham Cross. You will be responsible for generating profitable new business opportunities with targeted new and existing customers, in accordance with the company's channel growth plans and commercial requirements.

You will identify, tender, win, mobilise and manage new customers, prior to handing account management responsibility over to a Channel Account Manager.

Accountabilities:

  • Achieve budgeted revenue and gross margin targets, as set out by the Commercial Director.
  • Ensure that all activity is consistent with the Channel & Group Sales Plan Strategy and clearly co-ordinated and communicated with the senior sales team prior to implementation.
  • Assist in the development of a Channel sales strategy and be a focal point of delivery of that plan.
  • Maximise all product category sales to new customer targets.
  • Conduct channel research to identify potential new customers.
  • Attend conferences and seminars to network with potential customers.
  • Prepare business proposals and tenders, working closely with the commercial support team, distribution and finance team.
  • Effectively manage and communicate the new business mobilisation process.
  • Maintain and complete a weekly activity report.
  • Following agreement with the Commercial Director, work on specified existing customer new business opportunities with the Business Plan for that customer.

To be successful in your application for the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience.

  • Significant fresh foodservice selling experience.
  • Track record of winning profitable business.
  • Excellent foodservice industry knowledge.
  • Solid sales reporting & planning tools knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational skills and management of results.
  • A self-starter with a hands-on, tenacious, pragmatic approach.
  • Possess a professional manner, with excellent verbal communication skills.
