SEN Teaching Assistant:

Tempest Education are seeking to appoint dedicated 1:1 teaching assistants to join a friendly primary school in Mitcham. This is a lovely 2 form entry primary school with great transport links, with the closest station being Colliers Wood.

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:30am - 4:00pm
  • £85 - £105 per day
  • Long term / permanent contract

The role:

As a 1:1 TA, you must be willing to work with children who have high needs. You must also have the ability to work as an effective team member, be well organised and have the ability to communicate with children and adults in a constructive and effective way, whilst ensuring you are regularly reporting to the SLT.

Your main responsibility will be working one-to-one with a child who has SEN. Having suitable primary school experience will help to further support your application. However, experience with SEN is highly considered. This position is perfect for someone who is pro-active, enthusiastic and can use their initiative when needed. As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to a student with Special Educational Needs. Your goal will be to enhance their learning experience, support their emotional well-being, and ensure they reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a student with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Adapt teaching materials and techniques to accommodate the student's needs.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the student's

The successful TA must have:

  • Experience working with children who have SEN.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children, preferably in a school setting.
  • A clear DBS, if you do not have a relevant DBS, Tempest Education can apply one for you.
