Elevation Recruitment Group Accountancy & Finance team are searching for an Assistant Accountant to join a business based in Barnsley.
The ideal candidate will assist with various accounting duties, including the production of monthly accounts, budget preparation, and balance sheet reconciliation. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate monthly financial accounts for overhead cost centres, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support the finance team in the creation of cost centre budgets and forecasts
- Reconcile and process prepayments, accruals, and standard charges
- Oversee company credit card expenditures and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation
- Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
- Supervise and assist in the reconciliation of all bank accounts
- Ensure monthly completion of year-end schedules needed for tax preparation
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of intercompany accounts within the group
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure timely submission
- Handle ad-hoc payment requests, ensuring proper authorisation and documentation
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and tax documentation
- Process intercompany journal entries to ensure accurate accounting records
- Replenish and reconcile petty cash, ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Administer and reconcile fixed asset control accounts, generating reports for management review
- Manage capital approval processes in compliance with regional and group policies
