Finance Director - Family Office backed Real Estate - London - OUR CLIENT is an established, entrepreneurial family backed real estate business with a vision for transforming assets with local communities. Projects include iconic landmark sites with the aim to create new and vibrant developments to provide everything required for a modern lifestyle and wellbeing. Due to succession planning and growth, the client is seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and experienced finance professional who possesses a deep understanding of commercial real estate financing (both debt and equity) commercial real estate development, investment analysis, and capital markets all with complexity and scale.

THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Finance Director role will involve the following:

  • Working with investment teams to secure financing for real estate projects, and manage ongoing relationships with lenders, development cost reporting and covenant compliance.
  • Working closely with the partners to monitor business financial performance and align financial goals with overall business objectives.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance financial performance and mitigate risks through strategic decision-making.
  • Looking ahead to potential issues arising in the future, develop and present effective plans in response.
  • Collaborating with development teams to formulate project budgets, cash flow projections, and financing plans.
  • Evaluating financing options and investment structures to maximise returns while minimising costs and exposure.
  • Monitoring market trends and regulatory changes to anticipate financing opportunities and challenges.
  • Overseeing the preparation of Capital Call notices and oversee the process of drawing down funds from investors.
  • Assessing risks and opportunities associated with the financing of development projects, providing strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Reviewing and supporting the team's preparation of investment memoranda and presentations for strategic, financial and tax implications.
  • Overseeing financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements for Yoo Capital and our investments / funds.
  • Developing and implementing robust cost reporting and forecasting processes for the developments.
  • Developing and implementing financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency across the organization.
  • Overseeing general day-to-day management of the operating company, including cash management, payroll, VAT, audit, CIS and statutory reporting.
  • Overseeing the preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for real estate projects.
  • Overseeing the Investor reporting process and ensuring reports are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Coordinating with accounting and legal teams to address financial reporting and compliance issues, including tax planning and structuring.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and performance metrics, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Identifying and assessing financial risks inherent in real estate development projects, such as market risk, construction risk, and entitlement risk.
  • Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, including insurance coverage, contingency planning, and project structuring.
  • Monitoring project risks and performance indicators, proactively addressing issues and optimising project outcomes.

THE PERSON and SKILL REQUIREMENTS for the Finance Director:

  • Qualified Accountant (ideally Chartered) - with significant, commercial real estate experience.
  • A deep understanding of commercial real estate development, real estate finance, investment analysis, and capital markets.
  • Strong proven track record in raising and structuring debt and equity finance in real estate.
  • Experience of financing and refinancing sizeable real estate projects of scale and complexity.
  • Able to play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy of projects, optimising capital structures, and maximising returns on investment as well as overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, tax, and structuring for the investment funds, joint ventures and the business.
  • Confident and robust communicator and presenter.
