IT Support Technician

We are thrilled to announce a new opportunity as an IT Support Technician located on the outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk. As the successful candidate, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all internal IT inquiries. Responsibilities include fielding inbound calls, documenting IT requests, managing new hardware orders, setups, and distribution, as well as overseeing the monitoring of Desktops, Servers & Networks.

Essential experience for the position of IT Support Technician:

Clients; Windows 7/8/10, Desktop, Laptop, Mobile Phones and tablets

Servers: Windows Server, Linux Distributions, Azure Cloud

Domain: Active Directory, Group Policies and File Servers

Security/Networks: Anti-Virus, Backups, Firewalls, Routers, VPN, Telephony (3CX) (Desirable)

Essential Knowledge for the position of IT Support Technician:

  • Using and Supporting Microsoft Office (E)
  • Supporting computer networks (E)
  • Installing PCs/Upgrading software (E)
  • Data download and transfer (E)
  • Network and system monitoring (E)
  • Routine system administration (E)

Skills required for the position of IT Support Technician:

  1. Hardware Troubleshooting:
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components.

  • Ability to diagnose and fix hardware issues.

  1. Software Troubleshooting:
  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).

  • Familiarity with common software applications and troubleshooting methods.

  1. Networking:
  • Understanding of network protocols and configurations (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.

  1. System Administration:
  • Managing and configuring servers (Windows Server, Linux).

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, group policies, and user management.

  1. Security:
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles and practices.

  • Ability to implement and monitor security measures.

  1. Remote Support Tools:
  • Proficiency with remote desktop applications and support tools.

  • Experience with help desk software and ticketing systems.

Benefits:

Salary £23,795.20 - £28,000 per annum

Permanent position, offering 40 hours per week

Working pattern 8am-5pm or 9am to 6pm
