Job Title: Buyer

Salary: up to £47,000pa

Location: Leicester

Working Hours: 40 hour week, Monday to Friday

Type: Office based 5 days a week

Benefits: 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays, Pension

Job Outline:

The buyer will be responsible for the purchasing and a procurement service for components, materials, services and subcontract manufacturing to ensure the continuity of supply at acceptable levels of quality, stock availability and cost.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Purchasing of overhead and project requirements for Production and Development departments.
  • Review of the MRP requirements generated for Production.
  • Progressing purchase orders and updating relevant information on the MRP system
  • Progress chasing of sub-contractor parts and services, reviewing safety stocks to ensure economic stocking of parts.
  • Maintain CEM Bonds and Franchise Buffers – proactive in instigating optimum stock holdings to bring in lead times.
  • Creating new part numbers when required.
  • Negotiating with new suppliers to attain good margins both nationally and internationally and build strong working relationships.
  • Working with the R&D department both purchasing and in key component selection.
  • Managing scheduled orders.
  • Sourcing new suppliers and developing the supplier base, attending Supplier Quality Audits in conjunction with the Quality Team.
  • Contributing to the development of internal company processes.
  • Ensuring the proper management of the purchasing processes to meet KPI's and SLA's.
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of the department and any on-going issues in order to support the wider Operations Team in times of absence.
  • Other purchasing department administrative functions.
  • Timely and accurate communication of information across all levels within the Company.
