Location: Wakefield Council

Hourly Rate: £35

Wakefield Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team, working with children aged 5-14 years. This role offers a unique opportunity to support and improve the well-being and future prospects of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring each child's needs are assessed and met through personalized care plans.
  • Advocacy: Act as an advocate for the children, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with foster carers, schools, healthcare providers, and other relevant agencies to coordinate and deliver comprehensive care.
  • Monitoring and Review: Regularly monitor and review care plans, making necessary adjustments to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care by adhering to safeguarding protocols and reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and care plans in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker: Must be a registered Social Worker with relevant qualifications.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in care or in a similar setting is essential.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
