Ward/Dept: Austen House

Hours: Full time - 22.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 3 days across Mon - Fri, 9am-5pm

Pay Rates - Day: £25.60 per hour excluding Holiday pay

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced dietitian, to join the community team at Austen House, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. Austen House is a specialist Low Secure CAMHS unit on the edge of the New Forest close to Southampton. With only a handful of similar units in the country their our aim is provide specialist care for young people with complex mental health needs in the South of England.

Responsibilities of this job role

If you are successful in your application to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on the responsibilities outlined below - as well as those not included here, call today to discuss further:

  • You will support young people in a Low secure setting, where support is required for young people who have food and fluid refusal and may require Naso gastric tube feeding.
  • You will also support young people on medication which may increase appetite and therefore weight gain.
  • You will be required to provide advice and guidance to the Multi-Disciplinary Team and Medics.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

HCPC registered.

Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent.

UK Driving License/Use of a car for work essential.

Essential Experience

  • Significant acute hospital experience and working at Masters level
  • Experience of running groups
  • Ability to self-reflect, stay calm and ability to be firm and consistent. Manage ones own and others emotions
  • Knowledge and practical experience of managing re- feeding syndrome
  • Good team player
  • Empathic and facilitative

Desirable Experience

  • Working with patients that have eating disorders or working in acute mental health setting

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
