Description

Public Affairs Lead

  • Direct the company's public affairs strategy and policy agenda.
  • Lead on key policy issues and legislative matters impacting the company.
  • Achieve significant influence as a representative of the Business on policy in dealings with the UK Government, Parliament, high-ranking Civil Servants, lobby groups, think tanks, NGOs and industry groups.
  • Influence the views of political stakeholders through proactive and reactive activities, so that their views are informed, accurate and positive. Respond to queries, co-ordinate responses and track opinion.
  • Engage with external stakeholders and government bodies to shape policy decisions.
  • Build relationships amongst local MP's, officials and special advisors / agents and draft responses to public policy proposals.
  • Deputising for the Head of External Engagement and Policy on occasion.

Profile

A successful Public Affairs Lead should have:

  • Exceptional working knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall
  • Demonstrable experience within a Public Affairs role
  • Strong working background of dealing with governmental, Parliamentary and influential third-party audiences within the UK.
  • Awareness of key developments in infrastructure & environment policy an advantage
  • An excellent command of written English, and ability to write professional letters, emails, engaging copy and formal reports
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
