Contract Type: Permanent, full time, 37 hrs per week

Salary: £28-30,000 pa.

Other Benefits: Company bonus, car allowance, pension, expenses allowance

Holidays: 23 days per annum, plus birthday, plus statutory Bank Holidays

We offer high efficiency humidification and dehumidification systems and products, chiefly to commercial and industrial markets. The company is privately owned and has 26 directly employed staff plus sub-contract labour for installations and servicing, all run from our Leatherhead office.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Executive to drive our company's growth through new customer acquisition and market expansion. With our company experiencing an annual growth rate of 15-20%, this new role is crucial to accelerating that momentum.

As a Business Development Executive, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, as well as establishing and maintaining a network within the HVAC sector. This includes building relationships with building consultants, contractors, HVAC installers, and specifiers.

The ideal candidate will be based within commuting distance of Leatherhead. Following an initial training period at our head office in Leatherhead, it is anticipated that you will spend approximately two/three days per week in the office, with the remainder of your time dedicated to visiting customers nationally.

This is a new position within the company, offering a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in our continued success and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new customers, partnerships, product and service offerings.

Specific Responsibilities

A Business Development Executive in the UK HVAC sector must undertake several key tasks to acquire new customers. You will need to identify prospects by researching new markets and companies, including, but not limited to engineering consultants, specifiers, contractors, HVAC installers and service providers. You will be proactive in staying updated on industry trends and identifying opportunities for new partnerships or product offerings.

You will develop and implement strategies to engage theseprospects. This will include creating tailored proposals, conducting market analysis, and developing targeted marketing campaigns in consultation with our marketing team. You will also be expected to build strong relationships, and you will be expected to regularly meet with prospects to understand their needs and offer customised solutions.

You will be expected gather the necessary technical and commercial information from prospects to enable the internal team to provide detailed equipment selections, proposals and quotations.

You will work hand in hand and be supported by the internal team in all aspects of the role to ensure appointments are met and equipment selections and quotations are issued to the prospect in a timely manner that meets their expectations.

Additionally, you will attend industry events, trade exhibitions, seminars and conferences to network and stay informed about the latest developments in the HVAC sector.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

You should have, or be prepared to gain an excellent working knowledge of the following:

  • Humidification products offered and supported by the company.
  • HVAC systems including, but not limited to, air handling unit installation, maintenance and refurbishment, HVAC, and air handling unt controls, sensors, dampers, actuators, and general operation.
  • Appreciation of ductwork design and installation.
  • Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Health and Safety with respect to both your individual and company obligations.

You should have the ability to:

  • Be flexible within your role and be able to step outside the remit of your job description from time to time to meet the company's needs or requirements.
  • Apply your knowledge and experience to unfamiliar technical or operational situations and deliver practicable, workable, and effective solutions.
  • Provide cover for other members of staff during holidays and absences.
  • Be capable of problem solving both technically and operationally to meet the needs of the business.
  • Promote our products and services over the phone and on-site during service visits.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing.

You will be:

  • Hardworking and self-motivated individual, results driven, positive and enthusiastic
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Confident and proficient in presenting to individuals, small groups and larger audiences (CPDs)
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent in an engineering background.
  • Willing to undertake regular training in house, with our suppliers and with external training providers
  • Willing to travel which may incur staying away overnight when necessary
  • Prepared to go 'the extra mile'
