We have a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Joiner at Doncaster Council, this is a full-time Temporary role for the next 5 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Doncaster Council are looking for a Qualified Joiner, to work on property adaptations at Doncaster Council managed properties. This is a multi-skilled role, and will involve the installation of Level Access Showers, Door widenings, Kitchen Fits, and various other tasks. You will be required to work with little or no supervisory responsibility, other than assisting in work familiarisation of other employees, including new employees. You may be required to supervise a craft apprentice as part of their training.

What are your responsibilities?

  • To renew/repair of external doors and frames and fittings.
  • To renew/repair of gates and posts and fittings.
  • To renew/repair of wooden windows and fittings and associated work.
  • Renew and repair of timber flooring including floor tiles, skirting boards and associated work.
  • To renew/repair stairs.
  • To renew/repair kitchen units including worktops and all fittings.
  • To renew/repair external canopies.
  • To renew/repair wood fencing and posts.
  • To carry out repairs and renewal to fuel bunkers.
  • To carry out repairs/renew garage doors including all fittings.
  • To carry out general internal joinery duties including:
  • renewal and repair of bath panels and frames,
  • pipe boxing,
  • skirting boards
  • curtain rails
  • ceiling tiles
  • wall boarding
  • studded walls
  • grabrails
  • architraves and mouldings including all internal fittings
  • To carry out general external joinery duties including:
  • renewal and repair of timber mouldings
  • barge boards
  • claddings
  • facia boards
  • gutters
  • soffit boards
  • glazing

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as a Qualified Joiner, either for a Local Authority, Housing Association, and or Building Company.
  • Must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be working inside and outside, and you may need to lift heavy items.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle
  • Must be NVQ Qualified
  • Working Hours are Monday to Friday – 7.30am – 15.30pm
  • Full Knowledge of all Health and Safety legislations
  • Pay rate - £15.41 per hr paye, or £19.00 per hr umbrella
