Capital Accountant

We are working with a Borough Council to appoint a Capital Accountat on a permanent basis.

Like many local authorities, we face increasing challenges in balancing the budget as costs rise and resources are under pressure. However, we are starting from a solid financial base with strong earmarked reserves and no long-term debt.

About the Role

This is a newly created cross-cutting role that sits within the Management and Commercial section of the finance team. (One of the three teams in the finance structure). As a key member of the finance team, you will take the lead on capital accounting and maintenance of the Council's Fixed Asset Register as well as keeping track of funding of the capital schemes that support the capital programme which include S106 and Community Infrastructure Levy Schemes (CIL). You'll also support the finance team with the Council's capital strategy and support the year-end accounting process by producing notes for the Statutory Accounts relating to capital.

You'll be supporting a wide range of stakeholders across the council including elected members by providing accounting support and advice with regard to the Council's 5 year rolling capital programme.
