Job overview
Priestley College is looking to recruit a Finance Manager and a Finance Assistant. Two staff who started with the College on Apprenticeships have, following successful progression on their AAT qualifications, have moved to new roles. The Finance Manager could be either part or fully qualified or qualified by experience. However, the role will require the Finance Manager to be able to prepare monthly figures and work with the Principal in presenting the information to the Governing Body. The Finance Manager will be supported by the Finance Team from the Trust. The role would therefore suit someone who is keen to develop further and may develop within the Trust.

Responsible to: The Principal

Key Tasks

  • To manage and develop the accounting system, computerised and manual processes around the system, to meet the needs of the College and the MAT
  • To control the collection, banking and disbursement of all official monies within the College and MAT and ensure that they are accounted for in accordance with financial regulations
  • To ensure and support accurate processing of orders and payments
  • To maintain budgetary control and inform the Principal of budget spend
  • To control the College imprest accounts
  • To ensure prompt payment to suppliers
  • To monitor the cash-flow and authorise bank movements between College accounts
  • To control the fixed asset and inventory registers
  • To review annually the financial procedures and recommend amendments as required
  • To assist/prepare monthly management accounts (dependent upon experience)
  • To assist with the financial year end process of the MAT
  • To assist in the production of financial forecasts and investment appraisals
  • To extract financial information to provide Senior Management and Governors well-presented data for decisions to be made concerning the allocation and use of resources
  • To supervise the work of administrative assistants working in the Finance area
  • To prepare reports and attend meetings as appropriate
