Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join our team, supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) in a vibrant primary school in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for helping children achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt learning materials and activities to meet the needs of SEN students.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavior.
- Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the SENCo and teaching staff.
- Encourage and promote independence and confidence in all students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN in a school setting is highly desirable.
- A genuine interest in supporting children with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to working with children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are an advantage but not essential.
