Job Title: Grinder
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: 3+ months contract
Pay Rate: £17 per hour (DOE)
We are currently recruiting for a Crank Grinder / Centre Lathe Turner for 3+ months work based in Burton-on-Trent.
The role of the Crank Grinder/Central Lathe Turner is to grind cranks to management instruction.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Thursday - 07:00 to 17:00
Friday - 07:00 to 13:00
Overtime at weekends if required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Centre Lathe turning and grinding cranks.
- Use of a wide range of measuring equipment to check components.
- Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
- Obtaining relevant information from the relevant sources
- Controlling machines and processes.
- Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
- Analysing information and finding the best solutions to problems.
- Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.
- Keeping the work environment safe.
- Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work
- Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable
- Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.
- Report any near misses.
- Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
- Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager.
- Adhere at all times to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental instructions, and requirements.
- Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.
Background & Experience:
- Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.
- Be practical mechanically oriented.
- Possess good problem-solving skills.
- Recognised engineering qualification required.
- Self-motivated
