Shift Laboratory Analyst

  • Location: Thurrock near London
  • Job Type: Full-time, Shift Work
  • Working hours: 7am to 7pm for two days, then 7pm to 7am for two days, then 4 days off

Reed Scientific is working in partnership with a global company who are seeking a Shift Laboratory Analyst with a strong knowledge of chemistry to join their dynamic team. This role is based in Thurrock and offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about analytical instrumentation and who are results-driven. The successful candidate will be analysing and releasing petroleum products, and working on a shift rota that includes both day and night shifts.

Day to day of the role:

  • Testing a variety of petroleum products to ASTM and IP test methods.
  • Preparing and testing sample blends as requested by customers.
  • Preparing and testing quality control samples, standardising reagents and solutions, and calibrating equipment as needed for the testing process.
  • Verifying samples to specifications and communicating results obtained.
  • Making appropriate entries in the required records and systems.
  • Generating reports for release to customers.
  • Receiving and logging in samples for testing on the required systems.
  • Maintaining documentation as required to meet ISO 17025 standards.

Required skills & qualifications:

  • Good IT literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of chemistry, with A-level qualifications or above; experience in analytical instrumentation is preferable.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures in accordance with company policies and established methodologies.
  • Results-driven with a focus on activities that meet company goals and deliver the greatest value.
