Our client, a specialist in supply chain logistics and customs, is offering a great opportunity to join their team in Maldon as a Senior Customs Clerk.
As Senior Customs Clerk, you'll be responsible for liaising with customers, customs authorities, coordinating customs clearances from start to finish on a day-to-day basis, ensuring compliance at all times and delivering a high level of service, so their expectations are met and exceeded where possible.
Responsibilities of the Senior Customs Clerk:
- Maintain and develop relationships with clients, reacting promptly and proactively to client requests, always providing excellent customer service
- To develop a good working relationship with your client accounts
- Meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests by monitoring suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance
- Good file management and attention to detail in accordance with procedure ensuring operational standards are achieved
- Prepare quotations in accordance with client's request
- Encourage and implement "Best Practice" across the department
- Develop and maintain a commercial and "can do" attitude with all within the department and company
- Ensure all shipments are costed and invoiced in accordance with company policy
- Support senior management as and when required
- Ensure invoice queries are solved promptly
We are keen to speak to candidates who have a minimum of 5 years customs administrator experience and previous customs entry experience working in customs, using CHIEF, Destin8 or similar systems etc.
We're keen to speak to people with solid knowledge of customs clearance procedures, CDS and compliance and a strong general understanding of transport and legislative controls.
Applicants should also have good mathematical skills and be able to adapt, embrace and implement new IT systems and IT innovations. You should have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and be organised by nature.
In return, the successful Senior Customs Clerk will be offered up to £35,000, in line with experience.
