Telecommunications Engineer

Location: Quinton, Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Monday - Friday

My client based in Quinton are looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to come on board and join their team. As a Telecommunications Engineer you will join a team of dedicated, ambitious engineers in providing a high level of technical expertise and customer service to our clients. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in telecoms or IT support with a desire to learn new skills and progress in their career.

Responsibilities:

Excellent customer service skills, exceeding customer expectations.

Using Supplier Portals to manage systems and faults.

Responsible for generating, monitoring, and handling customer requests, issues, and fault reports.

Provide support to the technical lead on installation projects.

Provide liaison and guidance to customers and 3rd party IT professionals to ensure quality delivery and support of our solutions.

Produce detailed technical documentation on system installation and support procedures.

Providing customer training

Skills & Experience:

Understanding of VoIP, SIP, RTP, TCP & UDP protocols, Layer 2 and 3 routing, VLAN's, QoS DNS, DHCP, LAN's & WAN's and familiarity with using diagnostics tools such as Wireshark.

Experience and or Knowledge of telecommunications solutions including call center and call recording applications. For example, Gamma Horizon/call center, Microsoft Teams, Splicecom, Wildix and NEC - full training provided where necessary.

Minimum of 2 years IT or Telecoms support experience.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both in person and online.

Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail and analytical skills.

Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments requiring teamwork and flexibility.

Ability to track and keep projects on schedule, manage tight deadlines, and shift priorities at a moment's notice.

Full UK driving license.
