Acorn by Synergie have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Planner to join a global market leading manufacturer in the heart of North Devon on a 12-month contract to cover maternity leave.
Scope of the role
Responsibility of leading planning activities and implementing new processes and activities to improve delivery performance & inventory turns for a specific area of the business. The post holder will lead the activities of a small team to manage demand within the MRP system (control of planning parameters) and ensure supply (internal & external) is aligned to demand. The Lead Planner will generate and agree the production plan and communicate the plan within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Improving & maintaining area delivery performance (in combination with production managers)
- Improving area inventory turns (Days on Hand - DOH)
- Maintaining MRP demand & data integrity
- Management of Planning & Logistics Controllers
- Material supply to point of use
- Generating production plan (with MTMs/Production Manager) within MRP
- Reducing the transactional activities within the area
- Management and control of material movement processes
- Ensuring integration of new product/programs into planning and logistics processes for area
- Involvement & support the capacity planning for operations within the cell
- Potential customer interface
- Develop and maintain close working relationship with purchasing to ensure continuity of external parts supply
- Shipping of product to Customer
- Managing a small team of planners and dealing with all aspects of line management
- Manage 5S+ and standard work processes.
- Drive and manage deployment of lean processes
Skills & Education
- Detailed knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodology in materials management environment
- Leadership skills for team management
- Experience of leading people through change processes
- High levels of MFGPro proficiency
- High levels of MS office proficiency
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not essential
- Highly organised with strong communication skills
- Experience of implementing new processes, procedures and responsibilities
- PC and data analysis skill to readily and effectively manage available information
- Capable of recommending and applying optimum inventory management tools
- Familiar with the quality control demands of an aerospace or similar type company
- APICS, BPICS or IOM qualification essential
