Electrical Engineer - Generators - West Midlands OR North West Based - £35-50k Basic DoE + Excellent Benefits

Are you an electrically qualified engineer with experience of Commissioning Diesel Generators or CHP Engines?

Do you have experience of installing and testing generator/engine installations ranging from basic AMF to more complex peak lopping and paralleling systems?

Are you based within a commutable distance of either Preston (North West) or Cannock (West Mids)?

Are you willing to work a 1 in 8 callout rota?

Our client, a leading name in the power generation sector are looking to add to their growing business with an Electrical Generator Engineer. If you have the experience outlined above as well as general fault finding, load testing and repair work then this is the role for you.

What you need:

  • Min 5 years experience working in the diesel generator installation field
  • Min 2 years experience as a diesel generator commissioning engineer
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturer's equipment
  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electronic / Electrical
  • City & Guilds 2832 - 18th Edition IEE Regulations
  • City & Guilds 2395 / 2396 or 2392 / 2391 - Inspect & Test
  • Manufacturers Training Courses
  • Working as a team

The role:
Electrical installation of all control and power cabling between the generator, changeover panels, switchboards, ancillary equipment such as fuel controls, louver controls, BMS controls etc, testing of all the installation to the NICEIC requirements and recording all test results. On site testing of the installation to clients specifications and any associated fault finding and modification work, including any reprogramming requirements. Competence with DSE, COMAP & Woodward control panels would be an advantage.

Additional Duties:

  • Call Out Rota - approx 1 week in 8
  • Generator servicing and maintenance at customer premises
  • Generator Load Testing
  • Generator commissioning
  • Generator fault finding
  • Generator electrical repairs

The really nice to haves:

  • Served a recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • Computer literate, word, excel, plc languages and other software an advantage
  • Experience in a variety of Alternator makes and types
  • Experience in diesel engine diagnostics
  • UPS experience
