**The Role

We are seeking a confident and proactive Payroll Supervisor / Manager to take full ownership of our client payroll function. This is a key role in the practice, offering the opportunity to manage a busy portfolio while supporting both clients and junior team members. It suits someone highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll for 300-350 client payrolls each month (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly runs)
  • Oversee and mentor junior payroll staff as required
  • Ensure all payrolls are processed accurately and on schedule, including HMRC submissions (RTI, FPS, EPS)
  • Handle pension submissions, auto-enrolment compliance, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
  • Respond to client queries and provide guidance on payroll compliance, PAYE, and NIC
  • Work closely with the accountancy team to support client needs
  • Prepare P45s, P60s, and complete year-end reporting
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation, particularly relevant to practice environments

**About You

  • CIPP part- or fully-qualified, or AAT-qualified with a strong payroll background
  • Experience in an accountancy practice or payroll bureau is essential
  • Confident user of BrightPay (or similar payroll software)
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation, RTI, and auto-enrolment
  • Self-starter able to manage workloads independently
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable liaising with clients
