Project Engineer - Traffic

- Salary: PAYE £30.06/hr, LTD/UMB £38.94/hr
We are seeking a Project Engineer with a focus on traffic management to join a local authority team in Southwark. This role involves the design of new traffic management schemes and active travel corridor improvements. The successful candidate will manage the design, delivery, management, and maintenance of highways infrastructure services or projects. This is an immediate start position with ongoing booking.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the detailed design and implementation of traffic management and active travel projects.
- Provide and manage design, build, and maintenance services for highways infrastructure in line with corporate plans and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) 2015 regulations and Health and Safety at Work requirements.
- Undertake design of engineering works, considering technical options and the latest developments in engineering.
- Organise surveys, site inspections, and data capture exercises to evaluate and monitor asset and stock condition, providing technical advice based on findings.
- Manage and monitor assigned revenue and capital budgets, including preparation of management reports detailing works costs, commitments, and projections.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and communications for all stakeholders regarding highway projects or infrastructure.
- Manage and monitor asset inventory, attributes, condition, and valuations in accordance with codes of practice and guidance.
- Plan and deliver quality checks within the framework of quality management and contract specifications.
- Operate a range of engineering software related to design, construction, project management, and asset inventories.
- Manage and supervise technical staff and consultants on a project basis,and deputise for the line manager as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in traffic management and active travel projects.
- Strong knowledge of highways infrastructure design, delivery, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations and Health and Safety at Work requirements.
- Ability to manage complex projects and budgets effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering software related to design and project management.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple priorities.
