A local authority in Kent are recruiting for a Refugee Resettlement Support worker to collaborate with local communities, stakeholders, and statutory agencies to deliver a person-centered resettlement program for refugees and resettled individuals in Ashford, facilitating their access to services and promoting community cohesion.

The Services
This Refugee Resettlement Support Worker vacancy works across the Ashford area with refugees in temporary accommodation, to work towards independent living. The service users are mostly from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Syria.

The Role
The focus of this Refugee Resettlement Support Worker role is to work with service users to develop their independent living skills and promote their independence.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage resettlement programs in partnership with stakeholders and agencies.
  • Conduct welfare checks and ensure appropriate safeguarding measures for vulnerable clients.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Provide advice on welfare reforms and support clients in navigating benefit systems.
  • Facilitate access to services, manage support plans, and ensure effective community integration.

The Candidate
To be considered for this Refugee Resettlement Support Worker role, you will be self-motivated, with an energetic approach to engaging with tenants on an individual and group basis, to meet their aspirations around socialisation, healthy living, and well-being.
You need to be a great communicator, and able to form relationships with a wide range of people.
You will be able to work well under pressure and use your own initiative.
You will also have excellent time management skills, in this fast-paced varied role effectively prioritising and managing your time, including being able to regularly travel between sites, which will be a daily expectation.
The role covers a large geographical area, so access to a vehicle for work purposes is a necessity, and as the role is working with vulnerable individuals, you will also require an Enhanced DBS check.

The Contract
This is a temporary Refugee Resettlement Support Worker role on an initial 6 week contract, covering a period of sickness. There is potential however for this to be extended or for a permanent opportunity to arise. The role is full time, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9-5.
