Paddle Sports Coach

At Claires Court School we are seeking to appoint an energetic part time Paddle Sports instructor (2 to 4 afternoons a week depending on seasonal demand), to join our Outdoor Education department delivering across all divisions within the School from September 2024.

The ideal candidate will be able to coach paddle sports. There will be opportunities to join expeditions and deliver other activities such as coaching sailing if suitably qualified.

Outdoor Education is an exciting and dynamic department within Claires Court School, delivering a range of canoeing, kayaking and sailing activities, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Due to its increasing popularity we are now looking to expand our paddle sports team.

Based primarily at our Senior Boys site, the successful candidate will be working with our Head of Outdoor Education and Head of Paddle sports and wider team to help deliver and develop our current canoe and kayaking programme. The majority of our paddle sports is delivered from our base on Ray Mill Island on the River Thames however sessions are also delivered at alternative local sites including swimming pools and lakes throughout the year.

About You

You must be an experienced canoeist and/or kayaker with experience in coaching and developing the skills of young paddlers. Whilst we are ideally looking for an experienced, qualified coach, we will also consider applications from motivated, aspiring coaches who may have worked with a club, school or similar environment, looking to develop their coaching qualifications.

Hours

This is a permanent post for between approximately 8 - 16 hours per week (2 to 4 afternoons per week) during term time (12:00 – 16.00 or 18.30 depending on the time of year). The department typically operates Monday through Friday afternoons during term time, but some Saturday/full weekends and some school holiday work may be required.
