Nurse Seekers are proud to be working on behalf of a fantastic quality private day Nursery based near Reading who are looking to recruit an inspirational, bubbly, motivated and passionate Nursery Deputy Manager who must be great at using your initiative, hard-working and an inspiring role-model for their young learners. The right candidate has the potential be on a 12-month pathway to become the Nursery Manager!

Essentials

  • Level 3 Qualification or above in Early Years.
  • Significant experience of leading in a nursery.
  • Minimum of a Level 2 Qualification in Maths and English.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully managing change and improvement in a nursery setting.
  • Significant nursery experience of managing a team of staff in a nursery setting.
  • Detailed knowledge of safeguarding children, procedures and promotion of children.
  • First aid trained or willing to become so.

Key Responsibilities

  • To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery ensuring high standards of the nursery are maintained at all times for children, parents, staff, visitors.
  • Oversee the quality of childcare provided.
  • Undertake time in the nursery rooms as a role model.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and staff.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring education environment for children.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the nursery manager.
  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures, and medical histories.
  • To assist the manager in the supervision of training of students and volunteers in placement within the nursery.
  • To ensure the provision of high standards of physical and emotional care.
  • To be responsible for implementing and monitoring systems of observation to enable children's progress and achievements to be regularly and effectively assessed and recorded
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the nursery manager.
  • To be involved fully in monthly staff meetings, planning meetings, parents' evenings, fundraising events and training sessions outside working hours, as required.
  • To assist in leading a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times, including staff induction, supervision and training.
  • Perform any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Manager.
  • To ensure confidentiality of all information received.
  • To monitor and take responsibility for the Health and Safety standards within the nursery, ensuring that the nursery's Health and safety policies and procedures are developed, implemented and reviewed and to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as applicable to the role.
  • To monitor and take responsibility for Equality and Diversity within teaching and learning ensuring that statutory requirements are fulfilled and the nursery' Equality and Diversity policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Participate in appraisal and professional development as appropriate
  • To deputise for the manager in his/her absence
