**Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic School Learning Mentor to join our dynamic team in Carterton, Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential both academically and personally. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, parents, and external agencies to foster a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support:

  • Develop and implement individualized mentoring plans to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.

  • Provide one-on-one and group support sessions to students facing challenges.

  • Identify students in need of additional support and help them through lessons.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers and school staff to monitor student progress and well-being.

  • Liaise with parents and guardians to discuss students' progress and any concerns.

  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to access additional resources and support for students.

  • Program Development:

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of school-wide programs that promote positive behavior, attendance, and academic success.

  • Organize and facilitate workshops and activities aimed at enhancing students' learning experiences.

  • Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.

  • Prepare reports on the effectiveness of mentoring interventions and present findings to senior staff.

  • Professional Development:

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

  • Stay informed about best practices in mentoring and student support.

**Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree or qualification in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in the school environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the school community.

**Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Mentor or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with the educational landscape in Oxfordshire.
