Responsibilities for a Assistant Accountant (but not limited to)
- Liaise with shop managers and support staff to obtain proof of export documentation
- Review proof of export documentation for compliance with HMRC requirements and work with shop managers to close any gaps in documentation
- Collate the claim and supporting documentation for review, approval and submission to HMRC
- To review and reconcile VAT postings and control accounts as part of work to implement Sage X3 MTD functionality for November 2024's VAT return
- Compare transactions in VAT control accounts with those included in draft MTD return for the most recent VAT quarter and identify discrepancies
- Review discrepancies to understand the root cause and the correcting actions required for both historic and future similar transactions
- Prepare correcting journal entries for historic transactions including those in the prior and current VAT quarter
- Together with other finance team members, implement the correcting actions for future transactions such as coding and transaction type changes Prepare off-line VAT returns in X3 to validate the corrections
Hours of Work:
Full time office based 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday
Assistant Accountant Requirements:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication skills
- Recent Sage MTD/VAT return software experience
- VAT awareness
