SF Recruitment are recruiting for a Business Development Executive for our established manufacturing business based in Smethwick. The role involves selling to electrical contractors and architects in the B2B space and pulling the business back through distributors/wholesalers. Therefore experience in this sector is a necessity.

Reporting to the CEO, as a sales engineer, you will use your technical knowledge and sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products, for which a certain level of expertise is needed. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend 85/90% of their time with Mechanical and Electrical contractors, gaining specifications for current and future projects. The balance of the time will be spent with consultants and architects.
You will provide a key point of contact for the installers of our products and provide both pre and post sales advice. You will liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as:

- design
- development
- production
- purchasing
- quality
- senior company managers.

Key Responsibilities

As a specification engineer, you will need to:
- Identify new customers who would benefit from company products and maximise potential across the UK.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers by managing and interpreting their requirements
- Persuade clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
- Administer client accounts
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education
- Prepare reports for senior management and keep customer records via the company CRM system
- Achieve the annual sales and gross profit targets
- Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
- Generate high-quality sales leads and follow up to a successful conclusion

Qualifications and Skills

You will need to have:
- a solid technical background with either a formal qualification or a minimum of 5 years related sales experience
