Location: West London

Contract Details: Temporary, Full-time, HYBRID

Salary: Hourly rate starting from £21.29 PAYE - Umbrella options available

About Our Client:

Our client, a leading London Borough Council, is seeking a dedicated Refugee and Asylum Seeker Liaison Officer to join their team in London. They are committed to providing support and services to individuals seeking refuge and asylum in the borough.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-class support and assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in the Borough, both in person and online.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to address the needs and concerns of residents at risk of homelessness or eviction.
  • Play a crucial role in safeguarding vulnerable children and adults by making referrals to appropriate services when necessary.
  • Work closely with housing colleagues to ensure services are accessible and meet the needs of the community.
  • Contribute to improving service quality and implementing innovative solutions to local challenges.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, including occasional unsocial hours.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide creative solutions for asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with residents and professionals involved in their support.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience working collaboratively with other organisations to deliver a seamless service to customers.
  • Flexibility to work from various locations within the borough and travel as required.

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly Ukrainian, Tigrinya, Arabic, Pashto, Farsi/Dari, Kurdish Sorani.
  • Previous experience working with individuals from a Refugee/Asylum Seeking background.
  • Familiarity with the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Technologies:

  • Proficiency in standard office software and databases.
