Learning Support Worker

Long-term Teachers are working on behalf of a fantastic further education setting that are looking for a LSW to provide additional learning support to those students that require it. This can be in either a full-time or part-time capacity - they are open to different applications.

This role will mostly be 1-1 support of various students aged 16-25, most of which will have special needs & disabilities so experience in this area is important. No particular subject specialism is required but an interest in education and learning is essential. The setting has top of the range facilities and was recently rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To support identified students in-class on an individual or group basis.
  • To provide out-of-class academic support for learners
  • To confidently support identified learners via online platforms, such as Teams.
  • Attend Additional Learning Support team meetings, wider college briefings & training events
  • To work closely with the Learning Support Worker Coordinators, Additional Learning Support Managers and curriculum staff to refer new potential high needs learners

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education including Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent), or willingness to upskill.
  • Experience of working with young people aged 16-25 with additional needs. This experience would preferably be within education, but other experiences related to health, social care or in the community is also relevant.
