Position: CNC Millturn Programmer, Setter, Operator - Permanent Nights
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: Up to £23ph (overtime available)
Shifts: Permanent Nights
Monday-Wednesday 17:30-06:00
Thursday 17:30-03:00 (option to work overtime until 06:00 at 1.3x overtime rate)

Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled CNC Millturn Programmer, Setter, and Operator to program, set up, and operate CNC machinery. The successful candidate will manufacture products according to engineering drawings, ensuring all products meet customer expectations. The role also includes maintaining shop floor controls and monitoring measuring equipment procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Program, set, and operate CNC Millturn Doosan SMX machines using FANUC controls.
  • Collaborate with operators and inspectors to standardise inspection methods.
  • Operate multiple machines in sequence and measure parts using micrometers.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment, meeting production targets and checking for defects and quality issues.
  • Maintain shop floor controls and measuring equipment.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and suggest improvements to the direct manager.
  • Communicate and reinforce the company's commitment to quality improvement efforts.
  • Comply with health and safety legal requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Work within the ISO9001 quality management system and meet customer-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering and/or equivalent or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role (desirable).
  • GCSE A-D in English and Math or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experienced CNC setter/operator.
  • Previous experience with milling or turning machines.
  • Good knowledge of FANUC controls.
  • Competent in working with various materials, including stainless steels, Inconel, and other alloys.
  • Experience in a precision environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Logical and methodical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have experience working on CNC machinery, preferably in a subcontract manufacturing environment. As this is a night shift position, candidates must be comfortable working independently and maintaining high standards.
