About the role
We are looking for a Managing Director to drive and grow our presence in the United Kingdom.
This is a unique opportunity to establish, operate and grow a new market for a well established but fast growing fintech 'scale-up' in the payments domain.
You will spearhead our expansion, which will require your experience and passion to navigate uncertainty, structure and execute plans with confidence and quickly optimise your actions to launch the business successfully.
You will be adept and familiar with 'starting at 0' and building a high performance organisation and culture around you.
This role would suit C-suite practitioners looking for a unique opportunity to deploy and grow a new brand in the UK market. Experience in fields such as fintech, high growth tech or management consulting with 10+ years of experience, and deep understanding and practice in the Financial Services, Business Banking, Retail Banking and Payment experience will be highly regarded.
Two models of engagement can be contemplated based on your preference:
- A full-time role from the beginning
- A part-time role initially, with the potential to transition into a full-time role as we get closer to obtaining our licence
Role responsibilities
Implementing and Operating
- Design and run day-to-day operations that leverage our Global Operating Model
- Responsible for Zeller UK's P&L performance including managing budget and operating plan, ensuring that growth targets are achieved
- Leverage internal stakeholders to execute your strategy and quickly unblock potential challenges
- Recruit and onboard team members required to deliver BAU service
- Set up our physical presence in the UK
Growth
- Develop and implement the UK launch and growth strategy
- Work closely with Global Sales and Growth functions to build and ready the UK Sales capability
- Understand local merchants needs and competitive dynamics, ensuring our strategy and product suite continuously cater to local needs
- Build and maintain relationships with key external partners and customers
- Build and support customer-facing deal pricing strategy and processes
Licensing and Localising
- Be a key contact point for the Regulator in obtaining our EMI licence, including potential discussions with the FCA
- Obtain and maintain other regulatory licences including registrations at the ICO and FOS and other licences required to operate new products and services in the market
Qualifications and experience
- Strong leadership skills coupled with interpersonal skills, serving as a role model to your future team
- Worked in fast moving businesses and the ability to pivot approaches quickly to get to answers
- Can effectively prioritise work to drive outcomes
- Hands-on mindset, with willingness to multi-task especially during the pre-launch phase
- Resilience and ability to make and act on decisions in high stakes or changing circumstances
Additional Capabilities of Interest
- Extensive experience as a CEO or a senior leadership role in Financial Services or high growth technology companies, with proven track record of reaching financial targets
- Worked closely with (or within) Growth and Marketing within a high growth technology company
- Strong understanding of performance/awareness marketing coupled with earned media experience
- Experience with managing a Sales capability
- Connections within a wide range of industry verticals to leverage for introductions and sales opportunities
- Experience in undertaking media interviews
