Security Officer

About The Role
To support the overall RSC security strategy and uphold the security policy. To be proactive in ensuring the security of ourselves and others. To provide security cover by patrolling all areas. Diffusing incidents and preventing occurrences using "minimal enforcement" and applying diplomacy; maintaining fire, Health and Safety Regulations and securing the premises. Shifts will include control area management. During the course of duty aid the public with First Aid (if qualified) using "customer care" procedures at all times. All duties to be carried out in adherence with the IFM Health and Safety policy. Care to be taken regarding personal appearance and hygiene at all times. To ensure that the company standards and policies are followed and maintained.

You will be working Monday to Sunday, on a 4-day-on-4-day-off shift pattern, 42 hours per week, on a permanent, full-time basis as follows:

06:00 - 18:00,

08:00 - 21:00,

10:00 - 23:00,

11:00 - 23:00

Role and responsibilities:

  • Start shift promptly at time designated, in full uniform.
  • Appearance to be clean, smart and tidy at all times.
  • At all times exercise excellent customer service skills enhancing the overall visitor experience
  • Full knowledge of RSC Safeguarding Policy
  • Responsible for active communication of handover of shift to on shift supervisor.
  • Responsible for the awareness of Health and Safety. Procedures carried out must be in line with the Health and Safety Policy
  • Responsible for full comprehensive understanding of fire alarm procedures
  • Responsible for full comprehensive understanding of the RSC Fire Policy with significant emphasis to proactive and reactive fire safety measures
  • Responsible for full comprehensive understanding of evacuation procedures; includes knowledge of the RSC major Incident Plan, with considerations to unoccupied, open and during performance modes in all relevant buildings and auditoria
  • In relation to a major incident must be fully conversant with the location of all plant room, service corridors and lifts, both by location and by name
  • At all times operate a flexible patrolling strategy with utmost vigilance
  • Assisting Police presence on site either in person, by camera or by statement.
  • Awareness of responsibilities and powers as a member of the security team and when to hand over to Police instruction.
  • Responsible for diffusing incidents and situations
  • Responsible for providing first aid if necessary. (This only to apply to certificated first aiders.)
  • Supporting all performances as a performance Fire Officer
  • Control area duty; based at Stage Door. This to include (but not limited to) answering telephone enquiries, monitoring cameras (CCTV SIA License holders only), radio communication, completion of DOB, Security ID pass management, Key Control; visitor management, fire panel duties and the receiving or parcels, post and deliveries
  • Knowledge of in-house radio usage plus call signs
  • At all times to follow through any managerial instructions
  • To promptly report all security concerns
  • To ensure all work is carried out in a safe, proper and thorough manner taking into account Health and safety legislation, Incentive FM and RSC policies and procedures, risk assessments and method statements
  • To carry out building and pre-performance checks for security, hostile reconnaissance, good housekeeping, fire-safety and evacuation purposes
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client and staff information.
  • Report anything in need of repair or replacement to the appropriate person
  • Keep your working area and space clean and tidy at all times and your tools and equipment safely stored
  • Maintain polite and good communication with your colleagues and visitors at all times
  • Be prepared to receive and undertake further training as required

Preferred qualifications & experience:

  • SIA licence (CCTV & Door Supervisor)
  • First Aid Certificated - full 3 year
  • Experience of working and building partnerships with clients
  • IOSH trained desirable
  • Articulate and has the ability to communicate effectively with the clients and the IFM teams
  • Organised individual who can demonstrate a record of planning and managing work flows
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of high quality service delivery and their impact on this
  • The ability to be agile and flexible to meet the needs and demands of the role
  • Excellent time management organisation and focus on ability to prioritise and multi task with clear ability to focus on detail
