Chargepoint Delivery Coordinator

This role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 24 month fixed term contract / secondment opportunity.

We are thrilled to be hiring an Electric Vehicles (EV) Chargepoint Delivery Coordinator to help Surrey progress towards its net zero carbon emission transport future. The position will sit within our fantastic Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO) team, but it is expected that initially it will be tasked managed by the EV team.

The TRO and EV teams are based respectively in Merrow (Guildford), and Quadrant Court (Woking), but we promote a hybrid approach to working. The successful applicant will also be expected to visit and assess suitability of potential and confirmed project sites across Surrey on a regular basis.

About the Teams

The TRO Team provides a legal service throughout the Highways Operations and Infrastructure Directorate by promoting and producing temporary and permanent TRO and Notices for works on the Surrey Road Network. Our aim is to provide a professional, efficient and cost-effective service to the Council. The Team ensures that the Council is protected in its legal duty and that all TRO and Notices are in place prior to any works being carried out on the Highway.

The EV team sits within the Major Projects Team, who facilitate the delivery of capital projects initiated within the Infrastructure directorate, including multi-million-pound highways, environmental and E-mobility schemes, which align to the council's vision.

About the Role

As the Chargepoint Delivery Coordinator, you will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of on-street Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure across Surrey. This will include working with EV chargepoints operator(s) (CPO) and /or contractors to implement a wide range of innovative, complex, and politically sensitive chargepoint installations. You will advise on and process the Traffic Regulation Order, keeping track of suggested locations for new EV chargepoints from a variety of sources, monitoring progress and keeping records of relevant considerations on 100s of sites as well as other processes relevant to the installation and operation of EV charging infrastructure.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Possessing meticulous organisation skills, and details conscious - able to keep track of 100s suggested locations for new EV chargepoints from a variety of sources, monitoring progress and keeping records of relevant considerations on each individual site
  • Delivery focused, and solution driven. Able to prioritise and plan own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on own initiative, focusing on project's objectives - the installation of on-street Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure across Surrey for the benefit of its residents.
  • Able to build constructive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including other internal teams, Districts and Boroughs, Chargepoints Operators (CPO), Surrey Lighting Services Limited and contractors.
  • Able to deal with change and work in a constantly evolving work context, including but not only - changing legal framework for the installation and operation of EV infrastructure, mixed public attitude towards EV infrastructure, new technologies emerging, etc... Demonstrate an ability to understand the (evolving) relevant legislation and the associated procedures and regulations
  • Able to apply guidelines in a consistent manner and follow an agreed process. In addition, strive to continuously improve these, and make them more efficient for all parties (SCC, CPO, and Surrey residents)
  • Ability to attend regular sites visits across Surrey
  • Experienced in using word, excel, and outlook. Knowledge of GIS mapping and /or CAD would be also beneficial
