Payroll Officer – Lurgan area | Full Time

Reed Accountancy and Finance is pleased to be working with a highly successful, County Down public sector organisation. A new opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Officer, to join on a fulltime, permanent basis.

Offering a competitive salary and benefits, the successful Payroll Officer candidate will be responsible for completing the following duties:

Responsible to the Finance Manager the Payroll Officer will be carry out the following duties:

  • Process all relevant people changes to payroll system
  • Liaise with the HR department
  • Upload and input data in respect of monthly timesheets, additional payments, sickness, maternities, childcare vouchers, bike to work scheme and other payments and deductions as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of manual workings for payroll
  • Compile and enter payroll data onto the payroll system
  • Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors, liaising with staff/HR
  • Produce and file all appropriate payroll reports including payslips
  • Process payroll by established deadlines.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in making payments to staff using on-line banking facilities, ensuring that payments made match payroll records.
  • Issue payslips to staff and process time specific and annual statements of earnings and deductions including P45, P60 and statements as needed
  • Reconcile employee deductions and make payments/returns to relevant bodies as required
  • Produce year-end documents relating to payroll for the annual audit
  • Develop, manage and maintain comprehensive payroll ensuring all requirements are met.

Essential experience

  • 2 years'+ experience
  • Experience using Sage for payroll
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll issues and willingness to keep updated in this specialist area
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT Proficient, confident using systems and MS Office packages
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy
